
Talk of boycotting the 2026 World Cup in the U.S. is growing among European officials and fans following President Donald Trump’s push to acquire Greenland, though no country has committed to staying home.
Oke Göttlich, one of the 10 vice presidents of the German soccer federation (DFB) and president of Hamburg-based club St. Pauli, told the Hamburger Morgenpost that it’s time to discuss the idea of a boycott.
“I really wonder when the time will be to think and talk about this concretely,” Göttlich said. “For me, that time has definitely come.”
