
American Airlines is facing growing backlash from its unions following its poor response to a major winter storm and weak earnings that have hurt profit-sharing payouts.
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants called on CEO Robert Isom to step down following the release of fourth-quarter earnings in late January.
“The employees at American Airlines, our passengers and the investors can no longer wait for Robert Isom and the American Airlines Board of Directors to deliver on their empty promises,” the letter from the union said. “As the entire industry leaves American Airlines in the dust, it is time for new leadership and a new vision for American Airlines.”
Nick Silva, president of the Allied Pilots Association, has also criticized executives, though stopped short of calling for Isom to exit.
