As of Dec. 31, 2025, donors had given $2.6 million to 12 candidates in the race for California State Superintendent of Public Instruction. That’s $1 million less than the money raised at this point for the 2018 election, the last time there wasn’t an incumbent in the race.
million, the amount raised by candidates in the superintendent race as of Jan. 1, 2026.
The $2.6 million doesn’t include all money raised — only candidates who filed campaign finance forms electronically made the list. One candidate who switched his campaign from the 2026 election to 2034 was excluded. The $3.6 million raised in 2018 doesn’t account for inflation; adjusted to 2026 dollars, it jumps to $4.7 million. The next campaign finance reporting deadline is April 23.
