California superintendent of public instruction race: Live election results

The June 2 California primary election will determine which candidates advance in the race for state superintendent of public instruction. With Superintendent Tony Thurmond termed out, the office will change hands for the first time in eight years.

Although candidates often campaign on education policy, the state superintendent is a nonpartisan elected office whose primary job is to oversee the California Department of Education — not set TK-12 policy alone.

EdSource is tracking results as votes are counted in the days ahead.
