Average days absent among chronically absent students in California on the rise

0 comment 0 views

Although the average number of days absent among all students in California declined steadily from a pandemic peak of 16.7 in 2021-22 to 12.8 in 2024-25, chronically absent students have not followed the same trend. After a brief dip in 2022-23, their average days missed climbed back to 33.4. Foster youth, nonbinary and homeless students recorded some of the highest average absence levels among student groups.
